2012-ben nyilvánították január 19-ét a Magyarországi németek elhurcolásának emléknapjává. Ugyanis 1946-ban, ezen a napon kezdődött meg a Magyarországon élő németek szervezett elűzetése. Az otthonaikból kényszerrel elhurcolt lakosokat vonattal szállították nyugatra, hátrahagyva minden vagyonukat. Az eseményről minden évben megemlékeznek tolna vármegyében is. A térségben Bonyhádról hurcolták el a legtöbb német nemzetiségű lakost.
