Hallottak már Ishi-ről, az indiánról? A jahi törzs utolsó tagjaként azonosított indián férfi 1911-ben került a Kaliforniai Egyetem antropológusainak látókörébe. Ishi megmutatta a kutatóknak, hogyan készítette el eszközeit, többek között a vadászathoz használt íját. A mérnöki fejlesztéseknek köszönhetően született meg aztán a csigás íj, amelyet már lényegesen kisebb erőfeszítéssel lehetett kihúzni. Németh Róbert, a Tamási Íjász Egyesület elnöke is ilyen típusú íjjal vadászik.
