Február 2-án, Gyertyaszentelő Boldogasszony ünnepét tartja az egyház, amely egyben a megszentelt élet, a szerzetesi hivatások napja is. Ekkor arra emlékezünk, hogy Szűz Mária negyven nappal Jézus születése után bemutatta gyermekét a jeruzsálemi templomban. Máriagyűdön, ünnepi szentmise keretében áldották meg a gyertyákat, valamint az úgynevezett szeretetlángot is átadták a jelenlévőknek.
Ma Árpád névnapja van.
