Méltó és igazságos, hogy a magyar kultúra napja a Himnusz megszületésének napja – jelentette ki a miniszterelnök vasárnap, a Himnusz elkészültének kétszázadik évfordulóján. Orbán Viktor ünnepi beszédében hozzátette, ezeréves távlatban sincs másik alkotása a magyar kultúrának, amely képes lenne úgy felemelni szíveket, mint a Himnusz. Elmondta azt is, hogy ez a költemény arra emlékeztet bennünket, hogy bár bűneink száma és mértéke lehet magas, a Jóisten mégsem törölt el bennünket a föld színéről, kiérdemelhettük, hogy jövőnk lehessen és ha van erény, amely kiérdemli a túlélés jutalmát, akkor az az önmagunkhoz való ragaszkodás.
